2015 Gentlemen’s Lunch

The annual gentlemen’s lunch was held again this year at Gambaro’s function centre. The event proved to be popular with the Brisbane Business community attracting 112 guests.

The afternoon featured fantastic food prepared by Gambaro’s expert chefs and complimented with excellent wines and attentive service from the wait staff.

Entertainment followed the entree and was provided by Sydney comedian/ventriloquist Darren Carr. Darren proved to be a very funny man with plenty of laughs had by all! At this point AKC had conducted two of three raffles on the day which were very well supported by our generous guests!

Main course followed the entertainment and was promptly devoured by all. A relaxing afternoon ensued with lots of catching up with friends and colleagues.

The afternoon featured a third raffle and silent auctions. Again, these were very generously supported by our guests. Some of the fantastic prizes included Accor hotel stays, Wallace Bishop supplied Tag Heuer watch and ladies diamond ring, Suncorp Stadium concert tickets, Samies Girl Seafood vouchers and various sports memorabilia just to mention a few.

A great afternoon was had by all. The event was very successful for AKC raising approximately $70,000, all of which will be donated to disabled and under privileged children. The board of AKC would like to thank our generous sponsors and supporters!

A special thank you to our regular MC Ian Skippen who did a great job again. I look forward to seeing you all again in 2016.

2015 was a busy year for AKC on all fronts including grants. I’m pleased to report that AKC approved a record number of grants in 2015. Some of the grants (part or fully funded) included:

        • Hi/Low Bed & Pressure Mattress $4,280
        • Buddy Roamer $6,080
        • Shower/Toilet Chair $1,340
        • Vehicle Modifications (wheelchair) $4,300
        • Medifab Re location $1,639
        • Home Chair Lift $4,420

The summer months are a slow period for receipt of grant applications. Many of the referring organisations are closed for the Christmas break, coupled with the fact that the AKC board does not meet in January. Some of the approved grant applications in 2016 have included:

        • Parallel Bars & Stairs $2,062

Please be advised that our grant application form is now available for download on the Aussie Kidz website at

2016 Ladies Charity Luncheon

To raise funds AKC holds three events throughout the year, one being the Ladies Charity Luncheon which is at Cloudland on Friday the 27th of May. This year’s luncheon promises to bigger and better than the 2015 event, the inaugural AKC Ladies Charity Luncheon.

The luncheon will feature a sumptuous three course lunch with beverages, great entertainment (including the amazingly talented All Hallows Sister Mary Celine Chorale (as seen on TV)). The afternoon will include raffles with great prizes and silent auctions with quality items to help raise money for disabled and under privileged children.

Cost is $175 per person or $1,200 for a table of eight. Please mark your diaries and start organising your friends to attend what will undoubtedly become a “must attend” luncheon on the Brisbane social Calender! If you would like to make a booking or find out more please contact Sheryl at

New Website

December 2015 saw the launch of AKC’s new website. The new site is a vast improvement on the old one. The new site attempts to give the visitor what they require, either an understanding of what AKC does, encourage people to donate or to apply for a grant.

The new site features links to our social media including fundraising event photo’s on Instagram and our new Facebook page! Who knows you may already feature in our fund raising activity photos. Check them out or even show your support by liking us on Facebook.

Online donations are now able to be made via the website which utilises the Commonwealth Banks Bpoint payment system. Remember AKC holds Deductible Gift Recipient status (DGR) which means that all donations over $2 are tax deductible. To donate now please click on the following link
