Lilian is aged 3 and has Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 which is a progressive muscular weakness and wasting condition. Lilian is fully dependant on her parents for mobility and an electric wheelchair. The family requires a stair lift to access the second floor of the house where Lilian’s bedroom and bathroom are located.

Lilian was referred to us by Xavier Children’s Support Network. Her parents work and she is one of two children.

To install the stair lift was approximately $14,920 of which Aussie Kidz Charity donated $4,420. The balance of $3,000 was given by the family and $7,500 by the St Michaels Home Modification Program.

Since Aussie Kidz assisted the family to have her stair lift installed it has really benefitted the family so much. The family no longer feels unsafe or frightened that they will drop Lilian and Lilian is excited to sit in the chair and glide up the stairs now. It has saved her parent’s backs and it has made difficult tasks much easier.
